Subject: Getting techie today [firstname].

Hi [firstname],

Today I want to talk about membership site platforms. If you're not technically minded, don't worry. This is all pretty straightforward.

When you're building your membership site, it's best to use a content management (or CMS) platform. There are a lot out there, but the most popular one is WordPress. A lot of people just think of WordPress as a blogging platform. That's a shame, because it can do much more than that.

You can customize WordPress using plugins. These are short, pre-written pieces of code that can turn WordPress into (among other things) a membership site. Some of these plugins are free, others you have to pay for. Some are “freemium” - where the basic functions of the plugin are free, but you have to pay to unlock some of the more advanced features.

Some of the most popular ones are:

OptimizeMember (an offshoot of OptimizePress): [Your OptimizePress Affiliate link here]
s2Member: https://s2member.com/
MemberPress: [Your MemberPress Affiliate link here]
Amember pro [Your Amember Pro Affiliate Link here]

Alternatively, do a search in the install new plugins section of the WordPress dashboard and simply play around until you find one that best fits your needs.

Another CMS you might consider is Joomla. I used to like Joomla a lot, but I'm afraid it's lost ground to WordPress in recent years. Similar to WordPress, you can customize Joomla with plugins – they call them “extensions”.

Some good membership extensions for Joomla are:

Membership Pro: https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/membership-pro/
Mighty Membership: http://www.mintjoomla.com/download/mighty-extensions/item/3649-mighty-membership.html

Of course, if you don't find a membership plugin or extension that suits your needs, you can always hire a coder to create a bespoke one for you. Some good sites to look for coders are:

Upwork: https://upwork.com
Freelancer: https://freelancer.com

Whichever option you decide to go with, take your time and make sure it will work for the long term. It's a real hassle to switch over to a new platform and plugin/extension combination once your site is up and running.

Warmly,

[Your Name]
